Daniel was born and raised in Lima, Peru. Shortly after moving to the US with his family as an 18-year old, he became a follower of Jesus. Since then, he has served in a variety of ways in evangelism and teaching across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. In 2012 he completed a master’s degree in pastoral ministry and historical theology at Dallas Theological Seminary. He moved to Grand Rapids in 2014 to begin his doctoral studies at Calvin Theological Seminary, where he is researching the unity of the church in the first three centuries of the Christian era. He joined Christ Church shortly after moving to Grand Rapids.
Daniel met his wife Abby while teaching at a seminary in Peru. Abby joined Daniel in Grand Rapids in 2016. They are proud parents of their son, Nathaniel.
Community Engagement Coordinator
Although Native to Grand Rapids, Michigan, Ruthy was raised in the island of Puerto Rico. She grew up in the home of a Reformed minister and publicly professed her faith at the age of thirteen. Since being back in West Michigan she has been an active member of the Christ Church community through intentional fellowship with members, Bible study groups, leading worship through singing, and active service in the nursery and covenant school ministries.
Ruthy graduated from Kuyper College with a double major in Social Work and Biblical Studies. In recent years she has invested most of her energies into working with children on the autism spectrum doing ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) Therapy. After spending some time in the state of New Hampshire, where she intended to get her Masters in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling from Antioch University, she felt strongly convicted of her call to evangelism.
Ruthy enjoys singing, dancing, jogging, hiking, reading, good films and spending time at the beach. She also loves being an aunt and a big sister and is passionate about traveling and connecting with individuals from all around the world.
